Since September, Annalena Baerbock has been touring New York as President of the UN General Assembly. She has shared numerous Instagram videos showcasing her daily life and work. Now, a new video has been released, featuring a stroll through Central Park and reminiscent of the TV series "Gossip Girl."
Following a video in the style of "Sex and the City," former German Foreign Minister and current President of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, has released another video in the style of a hit series from New York. In the video, posted on her Instagram profile, Baerbock walks through Central Park in autumn – accompanied by a quote from the series "Gossip Girl": "Autumn in New York is unique, but it's not just the leaves that change."
Baerbock supplements this sentence with references to her tasks. The season of committee meetings in the UN General Assembly has now begun, and it's time to get to work. "Every autumn, after the general debate at the highest level, the real work begins in the committee rooms. From October to the end of November, diplomats from all 193 member states roll up their sleeves and work in the six main committees of the United Nations. There, they debate, negotiate, and draft the resolutions that are later adopted by the General Assembly. This period is the heart of multilateral diplomacy," she writes.
The series "Gossip Girl" was shown in the USA between 2007 and 2012 and tells the story of a group of young people on the Upper East Side in Manhattan.
Baerbock, who served as German Foreign Minister until May, has been President of the United Nations General Assembly in New York since September. This top position is primarily of protocol importance and should not be confused with the role of UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Shortly before taking office, Baerbock made headlines with an Instagram video in the style of the cult series "Sex and the City."
Baerbock's latest video received numerous hearts and likes, although the comment function was limited. One user was happy for her that she had settled in so well in New York. Another praised her and her short film as "beautiful and attractive." One female user wrote indignantly: "So, for a job at the UN, looks and witty remarks are indispensable. I'd prefer something more complex. Especially considering the salary level."
